WHAT IS METMUN?
The MetroWest MUN I is a Model UN Conference hosted as a collaboration between the MUN Clubs of the Ashland High School and AMSA! Although it is a first-time event, the MetMUN is committed to offering an amazing delegate experience with distinctive and unique committees, smooth registrations, acknowledgements through awards, and an overall event for debate. Our mission is to encourage diplomacy and resolution as we believe it is through conversation that ideas are sparked. We eagerly welcome all high schools to attend our myriad of committees and hope to evoke humanitarian and academic ideas! Hope you can join us! |

Letter from the Secretary Generals:
Dear Delegates and Faculty Advisers,
It is our great pleasure, as the MetroWest MUN Co-Secretary Generals, to welcome you all to the first annual MetroWest MUN. This conference is a one day event that will gather high school students for a day of fruitful debate and lively diplomacy, emphasizing public speaking and communication skills in a manner that is simultaneously entertaining and challenging. We hope to engage students in a political simulation where they can participate in diplomacy, debate, and conflict resolution. The aim is to debate global issues, while learning and talking about various controversial events, both current and past.
We have had the honor of being elected as the respective Presidents of our Model United Nations chapters. Each of us, enthusiastic and immensely excited in our new positions, have chosen to elevate our clubs to the next level. Due to the lack of size AMSA’s buildings offer, and the relative inexperience of the Ashland MUN Chapter, a partnership between our clubs was the perfect match. With over seventy combined students across our two clubs, we hope to bring you all an incredible experience, and to keep you coming back for more!
Although the conference will be taking place on the Ashland High School campus, MetroWest MUN is a conference that is actually co-hosted by the Model UN clubs of both Ashland High School and the Advanced Math and Science Academy. The Model UN club of AHS is a relatively new club that started in June 2018, but has grown tremendously thanks to the support of its members and the Ashland school administration. Now the Ashland Model UN club is one of the largest clubs at Ashland High School and is continuing to grow in size. The AHS MUN plans to regularly attend PEAMUN, SJPMUN, LEXMUN, BCHMUN, and WINMUN. In March 2019, at SCMUN in Los Angeles, CA,the Ashland club boasted the skills of diplomacy and debate. In March 2020, Ashland High School Model UN will be attending FIMUN in Miami, FL.
The Model UN club of AMSA was founded in 2015 and has also grown extensively since then. Having a very competitive travel team, the Model UN club of AMSA boasts an overwhelming number of awards in conferences around the region such as PEAMUN, ClarkMUN, CAMUN, and EagleMUN. Last year, over fifteen different delegates received awards, and over half of those delegates received best delegate awards throughout the year. The team also collected their first ever delegation award, winning Outstanding Large Delegation to the excellent EagleMUN, with eyes on HarvardMUN and NHSMUN.
After our fantastic years, and after a bit of number-crunching and self-assurance, we have decided to co-host the first annual MetroWest MUN in February 2020! We hope you will join us on Sunday, February 9, 2020 (snow 2/23), as we explore international issues, similar to the actual United Nations, encouraging diplomacy as we explore news and important events! During MetroWest MUN students can be ensured that they can experience diplomacy, debate, and conflict resolution in a political simulation while discussing global issues!
We hope you will join us for a day of animated debate on February 9, 2020 at the Ashland High School campus. Breakfast will be served during registration and lunch will be served between committee sessions. For any delegations that require accommodations, nearby reservations can be made at the Warren Conference Center and Inn.
As the Secretary Generals, we cannot be more excited to start a tradition of excellence and a long lasting legacy that we are confident will characterize this conference for years to come. See you all in February!
Sincerely Yours,
